Meet the gardeners and their garden

June and Winton are so proud of their beautifully landscaped garden that they have produced a short video with images that show how their garden has been developed and nurtured over the past five years.  In response to drainage challenges, many of their edibles are grown in raised beds and large pots, while June also enjoys espaliering fruit trees and weaving grape vines around the back verandah.  Driftwood teepees evoke a beachside ambience.

Come to see, learn and be inspired!

  • Pollinators are welcomed with masses of purple flowers, cosmos, columbines, Japanese anemones and Californian poppies

  • Fruits and berries include blood oranges, lemons, mandarins, navel grapefruit, nectarines, apricots, peaches, pears, apples, plums, cherries, blackcurrants, strawberries and raspberries

  • Learn about using climbing frames, such as trellises, arbors and teepees, to grow vegetables such as pumpkins, cucumber, sweet peas and zucchini

  • Check out the large raised vegetable beds using recycled timber that are within easy access to the greenhouse (also the home of small birds)

  • A waterbath is used by a family of blue tongue lizards that enjoys the dense underplanting

  • Ask June about how her strawberries are thriving with mushroom compost and find out if the 4-year-old olive trees are producing olives for the first time!

  • Watch the brief video to see the transformation that has been made to this formerly bare block
